In order to encourage reading and classroom read-aloud experiences, many publishers are permitting teachers and librarians to create and share story time and read-aloud videos and live events using some guidelines. We have included links to a few publishers specific guidelines but as an overview:
- Permission is to stream or record in closed, educational platforms only.
- State "with permission of (the publisher)" at the start of reading.
- Notify the publisher via email of your read-aloud (see specific publisher requirements).
- When possible, read only excerpts rather than full texts.
- Delete or disable access to these recordings by the end of the school year.
- These permissions last only through the end of this school year.
